Kit Storage Advice...
Kits can be safely stored for up to 12 months. All kits are supplied with a use-by date.
A willow log which has been plugged 6 months ago. The white material growing in the cracks, and around the plug sites, is called mushroom mycelium-which is the mushrooms root system. This is a very good visual indication that all is progressing well and that mushrooms will soon be on their way.

Helping Nature Recycle & Reduce Waste…introducing wild oyster mushrooms into your garden, allotment, or woodland, helps complete the natural cycle of decomposition. Dead wood can take many years to return its nutrients to the soil. Oyster mushrooms accelerate this process by feeding on the lignin and cellulose contained within wood.

Waste Watch reports that up to 1.6 million tonnes of wood waste is being disposed in landfill sites every year.

'There is little scope for the recycling of wood waste. Whilst companies exist for the collection and reuse/recycling of pallets and crates, for example, there are no such facilites for household waste'.

Growing Tips...

  • conifer and hard woods logs (and also stumps still rooted in the ground) are best
  • mushrooms appear in Spring and Autumn, usually around 18 months after being plugged
  • during dry spells water morning and evening with a hose
  • mushrooms are best picked in the morning and enjoyed for breakfast on wholemeal toast

'IF YOU’RE HAVING A TREE CUT BACK OR TAKEN DOWN, YOU CAN RECYCLE THE WASTE TIMBER, GROW YOUR OWN NUTRITIOUS WILD FOOD, & HELP REDUCE THE 1.6 MILLION TONS OF TIMBER BEING NEEDLESSLY DUMPED INTO BRITAIN’S LANDFILL SITES EACH YEAR'.

All our products are delivered with a full guarantee. In the rare occasion you are not entirely satisifed you can choose a refund or replacement.
