..Details..

We often find potential cultivators have a lot of questions to ask. Whilst all our products are supplied with a full set of instructions, which are informative yet concise enough to be read in 20 minutes, there is no substitute for hands on training and advice from professionals.

Concentrating on the cultivation of gourmet woodland mushrooms using cut logs and tree stumps, our popular one day intensive training course has now been extended to take in an optional wild mushroom foray in the 40 acres of woodland surrounding our venue. The High Weald Woodland Enterprise Centre is a natural location for the course, providing excellent modern indoor training facilities in a natural woodland setting.

... Saturday ...
An Introduction to Commercial Woodland Cultivation

The course is divided into two sessions:

Morning session explores the biology of mushrooms and fungi, covering their diverse lifestyles and interaction within the woodland ecosystem. After a short coffee break, the session continues with a look at the pre-requisites for producing a commercial mushroom crop.

Afternoon session takes on a practical approach in the woodland: felling, preparation, drilling and stacking techniques are all demonstrated. Each trainee will prepare and inoculate a log to take away. The day is rounded off by a question and answer session, and a mushroom ‘tasting’.

... Sunday ...
Edible and Useful Wild Mushroom Guided Foray (optional):

An afternoons guided foray seeking out ‘edible and useful’ wild mushrooms in the 40acres of mixed broadleaf woodland surrounding the Woodland Enterprise Centre. Autumn is probably the best time of year to find mushrooms in the wild; with favourable weather conditions upwards of 30 different edible species could be found! So bring a guidebook, a basket, and waterproofs and join us on the foray.
