These mushroom grow bags are essential for coffee, straw, and growers using pasteurised substrates and straw/wood pellets. 100’s of tiny perforations in the bag provide maximum air exchange without drying the substrate beneath. The plentiful supply of oxygen promotes rapid growth of the mycelium which can cut the spawn run time by up to 50% depending upon the mushroom species.
For Oyster Mushrooms, directly after filling 10 cm diameter cross slits should be made in the bags as follows:
- 50 cm bag: 3 slits evenly spaced round the circumference and positioned low to high
- 1m bags: 6 slits evenly spaced round the circumference and positioned low to high
When filling ensure there are no air gaps inside the bag, with the substrate forced tight up against the bag walls and no sagging. Bags can be closed by twisting the remaining bag together and tying off with a single knot. Alternatively a tie wrap can be used.
