Liquid mycelium prepared from pure mushroom cultures using the finest quality laboratory grade malt and yeast extracts.
Unlike other companies who use distilled water, we use high quality pure mineral water. It contains trace elements like calcium, magnesium and potassium (to name but a few), which greatly enhance mycelial growth and vigour.
Each mushroom species receives a tailored blend of proteins and carbohydrates added to the formula to enhance recovery and colonisation speed once inoculated. 10ml is recomended per 100g of grain spawn.
Each aesceptic syringe is closed with a luer lock cap which is sealed with parafilm and supplied with an aeseptic wide-bore needle.
Each 10ml Liquid Mycelium Syringe is freshly prepared and can be stored for up to 12 months under refrigeration (EXCEPT Pink Oyster which should be stored at room temperature).
Each syringe is supplied with the following info:
- date manufactured
- spawn run temperature
- fruiting temperature
- recommended substrates
Liquid mycelium made using pure mushroom cultures is much more effective than liquid cultures made using spores. Colonisation is much faster, more even and much more reliable.  The consequent grain spawn is 20% more bio-active than grain spawn made using traditional agar wedge techniques.
As there are many different ways to use Liquid Mycelium instructions are NOT included – this is a product more suited to advanced growers.
The Radical Mycology Channel on YouTube has some good tutorials about using Liquid Mycelium, and we also recommend the book ‘Radical Mycology: A Treatise On Seeing And Working With Fungi’ by Peter McCoy for some novel ways of working with mycelium without sterile facilites.
Agar plates can be made up using Liquid Mycelium; prepare the plate as normal and once set create a crevice in the centre using a heated scalpel, then apply a few drops of liquid into the crevice and seal up the plate.
