Description
We have 2 different strains of Pink Oyster available. This Salmon Pink strain (pleurotus salmoneo-stamineus) is more forgiving temperature wise. Although it is a tropical mushroom it can grow well from 15 deg.C. all the way up to 30 deg.C. and above. Our Hot Pink strain needs a minimum of 20 deg.C., making the Salmon Pink capable of growing well in more months of the year.
When stir-fried, Pink Oyster mushrooms have a substantial ‘chewy’ texture making them a great meat substitute. Cropped young they can be eaten raw as a visually appealing salad garnish.
Compared to our Hot Pink strain the pigmentation is not as strong and as the mushrooms get bigger the pink colour fades a little. However, it produces much larger mushrooms than Hot Pink and the yields are generally higher.
