Produces annually in summer, usually August or September.
Tree Species
All hardwoods are suitable. Preferred species: Oak, Beech, Chestnut, Hornbeam.
Timber Selection
Beefsteak can be grown on a variety of timber: including larger diameter logs, rounds and stumps. Narrow limbs and boughs are not recommended as there is not enough nutrition to support good fruitings. Logs and rounds should be partially buried vertically in the ground.
Inoculation Rate: 60 plugs per 50 cm length of timber
Dowel Size: 8 mm x 35 mm
