The Inspiration Behind This Kit
Wild oyster mushrooms grow on dead and dying trees and play an essential role in breaking down and recycling wood back into the eco-system. They possess an army of acids and enzymes which are used to dissolve the incredibly tough lignin and cellulose that makes up wood. Paper originates from trees, so why not recycle unwanted, unloved books the same way nature does.
What Kind of Books Can I Recycle?
Paper back novels work the best and should be less than 10 years old. Glossy colour publications, like magazines, should not be used. The book(s) must be able to fit comfortably inside the Grow Bag. As a guide, the grow bag can take up to 4 small paperbacks (250 to 300 pages), or a couple of larger paperbacks (500+ pages).
